Malaysia GP : Alonso & Massa Sunday quotes

*Fernando Alonso: "today, unfortunately, we were very unlucky. After a good start, I hit Vettel in the second turn, it was surprising to find him there almost stopped, I do not know what was his speed. Even though it was damaged, the car seemed not too bad, and together with the team, we have decided to continue because if we stopped immediately and again a few laps after to put the dry tires, we would have been too far behind condemning our chances to finish in front .
It is easy to criticize this decision, but at the time it seemed good. It's a shame because here we could fight with Red Bull but the circumstances have not helped us and bad luck has really played its role especially when you think number of excursions off track without consequences in Australia and here.
Now, we are already turned to China and Bahrain where we hope to have more success than last to arrive in Europe with as many points as possible."

*Felipe Massa: "today's race was very complicated with a start on intermediate tyres on a track which was very wet in places and dry in others and I lost time on many drivers in the first round.
Due to quickly return to the pit for slick tyres was perhaps a little risky because the track was still wet, it made me lose a bit of time on dry . the car has improved and tire degradation was not excessive so I had a good pace but I knew that at that moment there I couldn't finish on the podium.
I can't say that I'm satisfied with this result but with all the difficulties encountered at the beginning of the race I'm happy to score points."

Malaysia GP : Alonso & Massa Saturday quotes

*Fernando Alonso: 'I'm very happy with this position, it was a long time that I was not qualified in the top three ! Maybe that rain helped us a little bit because we were not the fastest in the dry but to start in the top 3 gives us a realistic chance to finish on the podium and we can even dream of victory.
In Q3, we have seen that the track quickly dried up, we therefore hesitated a moment because in the dry, intermediaries last only one or two laps before starting to degrade. But in the end, it seems that it was the most reasonable choice and it worked well. Over the last three years, it seems everything worked for the better: performance, strategy and pit stops.
Now we have to see how this is going to happen tomorrow, it will be a lottery if it rains. Even if thé start is not the most important thing, we will try to start in order to maintain our position or even overtaking Vettel at the first corner, then we will see.
Our pace of race in Australia and our long relay here Friday are that we can be reasonably optimistic."

*Felipe Massa: "it was a good qualifying session in which I managed to take advantage of all the opportunities which are shown.
In Q3 we decided to make a stop at the end of session to pass a new set of intermediate tyres and it allowed me to make a good time, enough to be second on the grid.
I'm very happy for the team with this result, it is a great reward for all the work done this winter. The car has been competitive in all conditions, also on dry or wet track but we had to deal with really strong rivals and perhaps only in condition of track dry we would have not done as good result.
Now we can expect a long and difficult race in which anything can happen and especially with key strategies and the management of tires, weather level is uncertain, it should not help everyone."

Malaysia GP : Alonso & Massa Friday quotes

*Fernando Alonso: "today the car worked well in all conditions and this is very good news for us because this circuit is more representative to judge the performance of the cars so it was important to have a good feeling here . The winter tests results are not an illusion.
During my laps on medium tires I didn't have the right balance and it was hard for me to improve as I could do with the hard.
Now we have to see how going to happen tomorrow, it could rain at any time and this track degrades much more tires than the Melbourne circuit, so there is a risk of having a large number of pit stops.
Our car seems to work better in race than in qualifying, this could be an advantage but we will try to do our best tomorrow to be on the first line as stops, start , strategy and reliability will be the key ."

*Felipe Massa: "overall it was a good day even if the rain came at the end of the session and made me  loose precious time to compare the two types of Pirelli tires.
The car has behaved well in the two sessions and I feel more comfortable with the tires here than those of the Australia.
We have a long evening of work that awaits us on the understanding of the actual behavior of the tires and it is this that could make the difference and we will make even more competitive, we will prepare qualifications but also the race."

Australia GP : Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa preview

* Fernando Alonso:

"this won't be difficult to start better this season than the last, but it will be difficult to do worse !more seriously, we now have a better understanding of this car and the private test results were at the height of our expectations. This gives us confidence and optimism in the beginning of the season. This should be a very nice Championship with a very difficult part, because Melbourne and Sepang circuits are very difficult, and there could also have some rain. We start this season on the right foot. I hope that we are going to score some good points for the Championship.I expect that this year, from advanced five teams have a small advantage, but after the private tests this winter, it is difficult to say which of these five teams will be a few tenths of a second to pick up the victory. It is very tight and it is difficult to identify a favorite. In my opinion, the teams Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull and Lotus have all demonstrated their potential this winter, but at different times. It is therefore difficult to make a choice"
Is Ferrari quite competitive to win this Sunday in Melbourne? "I do not know for the moment. It would be unwise to draw conclusions based on the times of this winter. We can already say that we are happy with what we have done. We come to enjoy in full the potential of our car and this should be enough to be competitive. About the Melbourne circuit, I well love it. I have already signed some good results here and it is also valid for the Malaysia one . These two races will give us the opportunity to make good points, but I still know nothing about our competitiveness"

*Felipe Massa :

"I expect that the pilots of two or three teams share the victories this year. In this regard, we start with a better car than last year in the beginning of the season so I'm optimistic. The tests went well, I felt the car evolved from the first to the last day and I am happy with the balance. We'll see."
"we start with the supersofts this weekend and it's rather well going to me as I've always preferred the soft tyres range offered by Pirelli."To manage the tires will be the key but it will be perfect in all areas, whether in aerodynamics or the mechanical. I think I'll start 2013 as I ended 2012. I can't say that Melbourne is my favourite circuit but I love coming to Australia, it is a beautiful country, with really nice people who know how to enjoy the racing. The circuit is demanding but I expect that the F138 will adapt well and that we have a good first weekend."
